The Founding of Veil Krasha

VerroakArtAvatarNow after all these people went to Draenor and saw that warped little alternate, they think that our Draenor used to be just like this. Well, you’re squawking wrong. For example, you can find hardly any arakkoa outside of the Spires of Arak, and I come from Farahlon, which you lot didn’t even go to. I mean, I’ve even heard some rumors it doesn’t exist over there. And that’s nonsense again, you can’t have geological differences between different timelines, not without Deathwing to mess the land up for laughs. So people say, how did your family come to Farahlon? How did this Veil Krasha even exist? Well, I’m no Reshad, but let me tell you a story.

As I was told when I was young, Krasha, the original one, was a Talonguard who faithfully served Terokk, the Talon King, during his rule in Skyreach. He and his brother Akraz followed every word of their king. However, one day, High Sage Irrix, the leader of the Sun-Sages, Rukhmar’s priesthood, came to Krasha and offered him a deal. Irrix revealed the Sun-Sages were jealous of Terokk’s power and planned to depose him. He revealed his false claim of Terokk allegedly worshiping Anzu in secret and offered Krasha to join them in their coup. But Krasha was too loyal – he fled the room to warn his king. Irrix didn’t want to give him the chance to do that, and proclaimed Krasha – and Akraz – to be heretics like Terokk. When the time came for the Talon King’s fall, Krasha and Akraz were there with him.

After the fall, Terokk wandered around the Pools of Sethe, looking for his former loyal subjects. Krasha and Akraz were there in the pools, now warped into the cursed forms just as Terokk was. However, with Anzu’s guidance, Terokk was able to clear their minds enough to make them remember who they were. Grateful, the brothers joined Terokk and followed him and his Talonpriests to their new destiny. For years Terokk looked for the Ruins of Skettis, once a great Apexis metropolis. In his search, some of his subjects either abandoned him or founded their own settlements to support his search. Akraz was one of those – tired of the constant wandering and harassment of the Sun-Sages, he founded Veil Akraz, while Krasha continued with Terokk.

Krasha was there when Terokk found Skettis and unearthed its once great walls. He served faithfully as a Talonguard at Terokk’s side for decades more, until the Talon-King’s mind began to be warped by the Curse of Sethe. When madness started to set in and Terokk turned into a tyrant, the Talonpriests began their plans to seal him in the shadows, but Krasha did not want to wait for that. Because he could not stay under this tyranny anymore, he took his closest friends and left to look for the fabled Sky City of the Apexis, now buried somewhere under Gorgrond.

His search was long and fruitless as the only things Krasha found in Gorgrond were death, ogres, carnivorous plants and vicious orcs. Legends say some of Krasha’s companions left to found their own veils in Gorgrond, such as Ruuan, but Krasha himself made a boat from the bark of a fallen genesaur and sailed east to Farahlon. There, he landed upon a forested shore in the norther part of Farahlon and decided to settle there. He and his men began to chop down the trees for their settlement, but a great botani called Yayo awakened and threatened to destroy them all. Many of the warriors tried to kill the creature, but it regenerated every blow. Only Krasha came up with the idea to lift the creature in the air, thus severing it from gaining power from the earth. Yayo was slain and his rich, thick bark was used to construct Krasha’s house.

Now, I and my siblings were hardly the direct descendants of that Krasha. The lines of his older children have died out by the time I hatched. My ancestor was Lithic Krasha, who hatched in Krasha’s second clutch. No, not that Lithic, that one was Terokk’s daughter. During my life, the veil’s supervisors were first my grandfather Raastok Krasha, and then his daughter, Akeeta Krasha, my aunt. Grandfather died when I was young, and Akeeta died with the rest of my veil, in that fateful orcish raid. And now we are here, Verroak and Tarakan Krasha, the last of our veil. And Orkan, who will perhaps keep it going one day, even if he’s not of our timeline.
