In the beginning, there was our Lord, Rukhmar, the creator of the Arakkoa race. His spirit hung over the primal and dark world of Draenor, or Arakkar as we used to call it before the Draenei. His spirit is dark and eldritch, and His body incomprehensible for mere mortals. For what our eyes can perceive, He’s merely a mass of black wings, fluttering around six, large, pitch-black wings, centered around a gnarled beak which keeps proclaiming dark and profane wisdoms. For mortals, His words are merely gibberish and a fluttering of wings of a thousand crows, but for the enlightened, He speaks the truths of cosmic order – the most terrifying truths that drive you mad.
His spirit hung over the primal Draenor and spawned ravens and kaliri to scout the world and see its faults and weaknesses. When His divine kaliri returned to him and spoke of a vast and untamed world with no order, He decided to arrive upon its soil and take the seat at the tallest peaks. For milennia, a tower of unimaginable height sat on that spot but with the shattering of Draenor, it disappeared into the Void, with Rukhmar speculated to have left and taken away his blessings to the Arakkoa.
When The Screeching Lord arrived on Draenor, He spoke to give life and mind to His kaliri. But as he took a part of His divine mind and shared it with his people, He took away their wings, for they shall know you can never have too many blessings. Thus, the Arakkoa were born and took the young world into possession.
Another story, once forbidden to speak of, speaks of Usurpers arriving from the Great Dark Beyond upon great chariots of fire. The Usurpers built cities and laboratories on Rukhmar’s soil, and when He tried to oppose them, they chained Him to His very own tower. The Usurpers soon left the world, but not without leaving constructs of their own order – emerald-skinned earthen constructions and earth giants. But Rukhmar, though chained, refused to give up and cursed the constructs that dared to defy him, turning the earth they were built of into flesh. Thus, the Gronn were born and from them came forth the Ogres.
As the Ogres and Gronn abandoned their cities and gargantuan machines, the Arakkoa took into possession the crystals that powered them and used the Usurpers’ own power to build their own civilisation. The civilisation that we now know as the Apexis.
